About Me

Thank you for stopping by!

My name is Michael "3lack" Simmons, a.k.a. 'Abundant Luck' I'm a music & digital artist born & raised in Denver, CO. My creative journey began in elementary school when I was around the age of 8. I remember writing poetry in class & drawing figures to act out the poems that I wrote. Once I turned 11 a friend of mine gifted me the album that changed my life forever. "The Carter 2" by Lil'Wayne, after hearing this album I automatically knew that music & a creative life was the life for me. I would fall asleep listening to that album on repeat, back to back. Enamored by his rhyme schemes, his creative metaphors & the beats that he would flow over. It embedded the art of music into my soul. As I grew older & navigated life, music & art became my outlet, my source of free expression, my safe place away from the world around me. When creating I was free from judgement, free from expectations & completely at home in myself.

After being kicked out of my parents house at the age of 16, because of my desire to only create. I dropped out of school & fully immersed myself in a new world. Battling homelessness & having trouble keeping jobs I turned to the streets to find a new way to make a living. It wasn't long before I found myself in & out of jail, in constant trouble & being pulled further away from my creations. By the age of 21 I found myself in prison. One of the hardest but most meaningful situations in my life. I never would've thought that my life would end up in incarceration.

Seeing & meeting the people that I did while being incarcerated helped shape the way I see the world today. When you find yourself in circumstances that challenge you to dig deeper within yourself, you realize what life's really about. The experiences that you live through, shape you & bring you closer to yourself, if you let them.

After being released, I'll never forget the moment that one of the guards laughed & told me that I'd be back, I remember telling him with all the confidence in the world, "I'll NEVER come back to this place, but you'll be here forever". I was then given a 7 year probation sentence to follow. I can go on for days about how hard the system makes it for someone returning to society to actually succeed. The 7 years that I made it through, by the grace of god, are what motivate me to help others make smarter decision as well as find the strength from within to be better today than yesterday.

Fast forward to now, I have a beautiful 4 year old son. I co-own a recording studio in my city with my partner. I've worked with the non-profit Ednium to get financial literacy, cultural & ethnic studies, as well as emotional intelligence/mindfulness courses into our local public schools as graduation requirement. I'm continually forming community partnerships to help grow & educate our underserved peoples on resources that can change where our generations are positioned in the economic structures of the world.

Collecting NFT'S from me is not only just collecting a piece of my journey for yourself to have, not only the 10,000+ hours, sacrifices, struggles & breakthroughs. You're also collecting something that in turn I pray inspires you & reminds you of your greatness every time you look at it.
